The M43 was issued to US Army AH-64 "Apache" helicopter crews from 1990 onwards. The M43 was manufactured by Mine Safety Appliances.[3]

Background[]

Type I[]

The M43 Type I was developed for AH-64 helicopter crews and is compatible with the Integrated Helmet and Display Sight System (IHADSS) and Optical Relay Tube. The M43 Type I was replaced with the M48.[2]

Type II[]

The M43 Type II was intended for aircrews other than AH-64 pilots. The Type II was replaced with the M45.[2]
