Heyah i have a question if i will buy a Swedish Folksmask and cut open the filter and take out everything will it be safe to wear ? also about the Finnish M61 mask will it be safe to wear without cleaning the filter out ?
And when i breath in i smeel something funky it smells like a lemon.
And also i read that most od the masks from the wwii Made in Britain contained blue asbestos but that was only for the civilian masks
So i bought like 13 years ago a M10M Czecho-Solovak gas mask it has cheek filters so i putted it together (it was sealed) i started breathing then i putted it of my face. In a couple od minutes my lungs started kinda hurt like somone is pusching on them. I just wanted to make shure if i shoudnt see a doctor. And the mask and filters have no markings or expiration date on them.
Thanks for your support George
At the moment i am going for a visual replica of the PPM-88 gas mask from the Metro 2033/Last Light. Since the filters in the game are silver i was hopeing to get a silver NATO filter to replace it. I appreciate all the help you have given me.
We believe that all filters originally created/issued with GP-5s contain asbestos and so are dangerous to health.
Replacement of the filter shouldn't be hard to find, just google "40mm thread filter" and you should find something that fits. NATO filters (while not intended to work with these masks) will just about fit (may not create a good seal though).
I don't believe so. Russian masks (for the most part) don't follow the NATO standard and so have slightly different dimenstions on their threads, making them incompatible with NATO filters.
I recently purchased a PMK-2, which came with a E0-1-15-01 filter. I am chiefly concerned with the safety of breathing through such a filter, and as such, I was wondering if you know of any brand new(ish) filters (don't need to be replicas) which will fit the thread of this mask.
If I remember correctly, there is some degree of compatibility between the GOST filters and NATO 40mm (please don't quote me on that!), it won't achieve a great seal, but if you're just using it for a prop, it shouldn't be an issue
