The SM-74 gas mask was designed for use by the military and the civilian population from 1974 through 1990.
The mask has two circular eye pieces that can be removed or replaced without the need for tools. It also features an exhale valve which uses Tissot tubes as opposed to the more modern oral nasal cup and a 40mm NATO filter input.
The kit for the SM-74 includes the mask, a filter, and a flexible corrugated hose, as well as a brown vinyl bag with two button snaps on the closing flap and an unusual strap system on the back.
